Advance Termite Monitoring Stations are placed in the ground ten to fifteen feet apart around the home and about two to three feet out from the foundation of the house. The Advance Termite Monitor Station contains a wood food source and an inspection cartridge for detecting subterranean termites. We recommend you use the Advance Spider tool and twist the black cap off of the station. If you do not have one, you can use a large flat head screw driver placed behind the small black tab on the cap and twist the cap until both tabs are released and the cap can be removed. Once the cap is off, you can use either a small screw driver or a pair of needle nose pliers to lift the old cartridge out. Then you simply set the new cartridge in the station and put the cap back on. Details + Read More Do-it-yourself termite control can be done with our help. The Advance Termite Bait System is the nextgeneration of termite baiting. This preventative termite control system isdesigned to be installed around the outsidefoundation of your home. Preloaded with aTermite Inspection Cartridge and Termite MonitoringBase, the stations allow you to interceptand monitor for termites that come in fromthe yard to infest your home.At you can find the Advance TermiteBait System as individual stations, or inour Termite Baiting Kits. These kits includethe stations, a spider tool to open the stations, and Trelona bait cartridges to treat whentermite activity is found. If you already have termites in your home, this system will not work to control thatinfestation. The termites will not leave yourhome, where they have already found theirfood source, to go back to the stations. Anactive termite infestation in your home shouldbe treated with a liquid termiticide product, and the Advance Termite Bait System shouldbe installed to monitor for future termiteactivity. After installation of the System, the Inspection Cartridge can be replaced witha Trelona Bait Cartridge when termite activityis found in the stations. Each Advance Termite Bait Station featuresvertical slots that maximize wood-to-soilcontact creating an ideal environment fortermites. Inside each station is a wood monitorand a Termite Inspection cartridge. Termiteswill start feeding on the wood base then feedupward to the Puri-Cell monitoring tabletsin the Termite Inspection Cartridge. The combinationof the wood base and cartridge makes it easyfor you to inspect and detect termite activityin your stations. Before you begin placing the Advance TermiteBaiting System in the soil around the perimeterof your home, here are three key things tokeep in mind:First stations should be installed 2 to4 feet out from the foundation of your home, either inside or outside the gutter dripline. This is to ensure the gutters do not flowdirectly into your station.Second Stations should be placed 10 to20 feet apart from one another, but they aremost effective when placed no more than 15feet apart.Third Be sure to wash your hands and wearclean gloves before handling the Advance TermiteBait Stations. Termites are sensitive to scentsand would be able to detect any chemical orcleaning product residue that may transferfrom your hands to the stations, possiblyreducing the effectiveness of the system. To install the Advance Termite Bait Station, you can use a shovel, post hole digger, orauger to dig a hole 9 inches deep. By extendingthe hole 3 inches deeper than the station, you allow an area for water and rain thatdrains through the soil and the station aplace to go without puddling inside the station. If water puddles or stays inside the station, the wood monitoring base can become moldyand reduce its attractiveness to termites. If the hole is just large enough for the station, remove any dirt from the hole, insert thestation and press down until the top of thestation is flush with the ground. If the holeis slightly larger than the station, placethe station against one side of the hole youdug flush with the ground. Then, fill in withdirt around the side of the station and patdown the dirt to hold it in place. You should check your Advance Termite BaitSystem stations every 3 months, or quarterly, for termite activity. To open the Bait Station, you’ll need TheSpider tool. Place The Spider station accesstool over the station cap and rotate counter-clockwiseuntil the two locking tabs clear the lockingring. Once unlocked, the station cap staysin The Spider and can be lifted away. Thecap can be replaced by locking it in placewith the Spider Tool. When the station is unlocked, you can inspectthe monitor for termite activity. Again, makesure you wear gloves when handling the cartridgesor station to minimize your contact. A cotterpin puller with a curved tip makes it easyto pull the cartridge out, check for termiteactivity, and put it back in without havingto touch it.If you notice termites or signs of termitesin your stations, the Termite Inspection Cartridgeshould be replaced with a Trelona Bait Cartridge.Trelona cartridges contain an active baitto help control termite colonies. The Wood Monitoring Bases and Termite InspectionCartridges should be replaced every 12 monthsfor the best results. How Advance Termite Bait Station Works Each Advance Termite Bait Station comes loaded with four total components: The black plastic housing, a wooden Termite Monitoring Base, a Termite Inspection Cartridge, and a black plastic cap. These are extra complete stations to replace or supplement the Advance Termite Bait System Kit. Stations are placed 10-15 feet apart, 2-4 feet away from the foundation around the structure to be treated to monitor subterranean termite activity. These stations do not contain any active ingredient or Termite Bait Cartridges they are for monitoring only. Termite Bait Cartridges and other components may be purchased separately. The easy-access design of the station combined with highly attractive wooden base and Termite Inspection Cartridge cells attract and intercept foraging worker termites before they find food in the structure. If activity is observed in stations, the Termite Inspection Cartridge is replaced with a termite bait cartridge, like the Advance Termite Bait Cartridge (sold separately). Target Pests Subterranean termites Target Uses Advance Termite Bait Stations are installed to monitor and treat subterranean termites around structures, generally in residential areas. Advance stations are easy to install, monitor, and maintain, with minimal disturbance to the environment. Advance stations are for preventative treatment: they should not be installed as the sole treatment for existing termite infestations. See How to Perform a Termite Treatment for existing infestations. ACTIVE INGREDIENT: No active insecticides, contains only wood and food attractants. Application Instructions Always read the product label completely before use. Install Advance Bait Stations (including the wood base and termite monitoring cartridge) into the ground every 10-20 feet around the perimeter of the structure. Stations should be placed 2-4 feet away from the foundation, but not directly under the drip line from the roof of the structure. To dig holes for the stations, use a 2 in. hand or electric auger or post hole digger. The cavity for each station should extend 2 to 4 in. below the stations housing to allow excess moisture to drain. Monitor stations every 90 days for termite activity. A Termite Bait Station Spider Tool (sold separately) will easily open each station. A cotter pin hand tool or small pliers make removal of the cartridges easy. If termite activity is present, replace the Termite Inspection Cartridge with a termite bait cartridge, like the Advance Termite Bait Cartridge. (Be sure to remove the plastic wrapper from the TBC before placing inside the station.) Inspect active bait stations every 90 days to see if termite activity has stopped. When activity stops, replace the Termite Bait Cartridge with a Termite Inspection Cartridge. Repeat process as needed. Replace the wood bases and Termite Inspection Cartridges every 12 months for best results. Wood that is soggy or moldy should be replaced as soon as possible. Each station includes one wood Termite Monitoring Base and one Termite Inspection Cartridge. Standard Application Rates: * Place stations 10-20 feet apart, 2-4 feet from the foundation of the structure Closer placement results in better monitoring and treatment. * One wooden base and one Termite Inspection Cartridge are included per station and should be replaced approx. every 12 months.
