I have been administering fish oil supplements to my 14 year old Rottweiler for the entire duration of his life that I have owned him, which is now over 9 years, because I personally believe fish oils offer many benefits to a dog’s health and longevity. It is also nice that companies are producing fish oil supplements specifically for dogs so that I don’t have to share mine anymore! This product, for all intents and purposes, has really good certifications behind it and is produced in Canada. I’m a little bit torn as far as how to review it because I went to the company’s website and have looked in several places to try to find the exact ingredients or from where they’re sourced and that information is simply just not available anywhere that I can find. I just want to know what type of fish or fishes are supplying the EPA and DHA in the supplement but the company simply does not provide that information anywhere – not even under the ingredients list for this exact product on their own webpage. I would like to know what types of fish or fishes were utilized to make the supplement as part of how I review it for quality, so I have a hard time giving it a thorough review without that information being available. Overall my dog happily took the supplement and it appears to be high quality but I’m always going to have a question mark because certain information that should be provided is not. I’m very hopeful that this manufacturer will realize that’s a concern for “pet parents” and address it in the future by being upfront about its ingredient sources. Because this does strike me as a good product from a good company and my dog liked the supplement, I removed only one star after checking several places and still failing to find what sources comprise this product. My dog currently gets salmon, pollock, krill, anchovy, and sardine oils via various products and pills and supplements, so I cannot really reliably determine how to incorporate this product into my dog’s stack because I don’t know what it actually is. Again, I really hope the manufacturer makes this information available soon because I think this is a quality product but I’m not sure how much to value it based on its mysteries.
